I am in love!!! If you are a chocolate lover,I found the cupcakes of your dreams. These Death By Chocolate Cupcakes have such an appropriate name. In every part of this cupcake there is chocolate. And the best part about them is that you can make them using a simple box dark chocolate cake mix. Along with this you also add Jello chocolate pudding mix, chocolate chips and a great secret ingredient, some coffee. If you have never tried adding coffee to a chocolate dessrt, I really hope you do because you will never go back.
Then after the cupcakes are done you can also make some homemade frosting by using some Dove chocolate and sour cream. If you like chocolate frosting than you will definitely enjoy this. This is a great dessert to serve during a kid’s birthday party. Just make sure you save these towards the end. These cupcakes will cause a major chocolate high LOL.
Ingredients
DEATH BY CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES
1 (15.25 oz) box dark chocolate cake mix (I used Pillsbury)
1 (3.9 oz) box chocolate fudge flavored instant pudding (I used Jell-o brand)
1 cup sour cream
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup prepared, plain warm coffee
4 eggs
1 bag (11 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chunks
MILK CHOCOLATE SOUR CREAM FROSTING
11 oz premium milk chocolate bars (I used DOVE chocolate. So good!)
1 cup sour cream
GARNISH
Strawberries, nuts, chocolate chips
Procedure:
Preheat oven to 350.
In a large bowl, whisk together cake mix and pudding mix until combined.
Make a well in the center of the bowl.
Add in the sour cream, vegetable oil, eggs, and prepared coffee.
Mix for 5 minutes or until completely combined. The batter will be thick! I finished off by stirring with a rubber spatula.
Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chunks
Fill cupcake liners ⅓ full with batter.
Bake for 16-18 minutes.
Remove cupcakes from pan as soon as they come out of the oven.
Let cool on a cooling rack while you make the frosting.
In a large bowl melt the milk chocolate candy bars in the microwave, stirring every 8-10 seconds until completely melted. The dove chocolate squares took 1 minutes and 30 seconds.
Let cool until slightly warm.
Stir in sour cream.
Refrigerate for 30 seconds or until it’s firm enough to hold peaks.
When cupcakes are cooled, pipe on the frosting.
Garnish with desired toppings.
