Hasselback Baked Apples are a quick way of getting that great taste of the traditional apple pie but half the work and time. You still that great sweet, cinnamon flavor and anytime you can add vanilla ice-cream to a dessert, makes it a win for me


This was actually one of my first Fall desserts and I already have had requests to make it again, so if you are wondering if people are going to miss the crust of of traditional apple pie, they won’t.

Ingredients:
2 large firm apples, peeled, cored, and halved vertically
Cooking spray
4 tablespoons brown sugar, divided
2½ tablespoons butter, melted and divided
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
2 tablespoons old-fashioned rolled oats
1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1½ cups low-fat vanilla ice cream
