How can you make cake pops even cuter? Turn them into cats! I happen to find this video tutorial while trying to search for unique cake pops and this showed up. Apparently, these cats are part of a game app called Neko Atsume. Even though I don’t play the game I still fell in love with the cats.
I love all the little details that she does and because of that they are truly one of my favorite cake pops. The way she uses chocolate chips for the ears. Also the little sprinkles she places on the cat’s cheek. It is all the little things that makes them stand out. I know Cat Lovers will absolutely love them! I also think they would work great for a kid’s party. Whatever you use them for they will definitely be talked about.
One quarter of a 9” x 13” cake
2-4 T frosting
Candy coating in desired colors (Candiquik works best – find it in the bakery section of a grocery store)
White chocolate chips
Fondant for decoration (optional)
1. Crumble cake in food processor, then pulse in frosting until “dough” forms. Roll into ovals, then place on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for 10 min.
2. Melt candy coating in the microwave at 20 second intervals until smooth. Dip lollipop sticks into candy coating, then place in cake balls. Attach white chocolate chip ears with candy melts. Let set, then dip entire cake pop in candy coating. Decorate as desired.
